Design Inspo

OOTD

Fashion fads and trends are akin to mysteries we could not resolve. Although power cut is the most frequently happened thing in Karachi, but still, its frequency is unable to catch up the pace with which fashion trends change. Or may be I am wrong, I guess, power cut takes place more frequently than the fashion trends change. Chalo leave this topic before it actually goes out and complete this post.

Just a few days ago, there were ankle length shirts rocking the fashion scene and now these are cropped above to the knee length. I loved that era, when we used to don long shirts with eastern vibes and a lot of flair. Now, everything is fuss-free, simple and straight.

Adopting this change can be quite a task for some. At least, it was definitely hard for me. I resist moving to short shirts altogether; rather, I opted for a fusion style. I made a few clothes that may be knee-length, but their cuts should reflect the same eastern and anar kali kind of vibes.

In my design inspo section, I am sharing a similar designs that is a perfect combination of new knee-length while maintains its eastern vibes.

Let's delve into the details of this dress and see how you can emulate this design for yourself.

The Fabric

The fabric of this dress is very soft crinkle georgette. Usually, I do not prefer georgette fabric, but this one was quite soft and has a lot of fluidity in it, so I found it appropriate. I don't remember the price, but it was quite economical. I only bought the fabric of two shirt piece because I want to get it stitched with a lot of flair. For bottoms and slip, I opted for soft silk fabric and chiffon for dupatta.

Color and Contrast

The fabric is in very subtle shade of biscuit color. You know na how cheerful and happy person I am, so I wanted to add some bright hue in it and that made me to brought this cool turquoise color. I bought an embroidered fabric in this color. Luckily, the embroidery on this fabric has that same shade as that of my shirt fabric. I bought both the fabrics from Rabi Center, Tariq Raod.

The Design

There is not much in the design, but I still feel that this dress has a class of its own. I asked my tailor to give me an knee-length frock with a lot of flairs. The neckline of this dress is the lifeblood of this dress. On neckline, I added some gatherings that brought a very structured flair in the whole look. Both, the front and back neckline of the dress are same.

The Sleeve

As I mentioned, I wanted some color, but not like too in your face way. The only way I could think of bring color is by adding that fabric on the sleeve. So, I gave this fabric to my tailor and asked him to put this fabric in the end of the sleeve. My tailor uncle himself decided the length of this added piece and it just fit right.

The Separates

I pair this shirt with a slim fit payjamas. What really enlivened this dress is its dupatta. I didn't want that turquoise embroidered fabric to live its life alone, so I gave it a partner in the form of dupatta. I opted for a double shade dupatta in turquoise and biscuit color.

The Styling

When I wear this shirt, I style it with a turquoise necklace and a bag in the same color. Sometimes, I wear my gold flats that I showed you how I recycled them (see it here) and other times, I wear kitten heels in ash white color.

How I Look

Here is a picture of me wearing it. I took this picture casually and not for the purpose of blog and that is why its quality is not so good. The purpose is just to show you how it looks while wearing it.
