How I Take Care of My Jewelry

I am sort of a person, who truly believes in the power of accessorizing. I firmly believe that accessorizing an outfit can truly make or break your look. This is true especially, when it comes to jewelry and it is the very reason why I spend a good amount on buying jewelry pieces that can truly enliven my dress.

As much as I love jewelry and love spending a considerable chunk of my money on accessories, I also understand the importance of keeping my pieces safe and make them last for a longer period of time. I usually buy affordable pieces, but I also have some (very few and selected) expensive jewelry pieces as well. In either way, I know I have to take care of my collection as affordable pieces tend to turn black or get dull easily; whereas, expensive pieces need to be taken care of so that they last longer.

Over the period of time, with trial and error method, I have learnt a few techniques to keep my jewelry safe and shiny for a longer period of time. In today’s post, I am sharing these tips with you guys so that you can also take care of your favorite accessories.

Tip # 1: Keep Your Jewelry Wrapped in Plastic or Bubble Wrap
I learnt this the hard way! I used to keep my jewelry wrapped before but in the brown paper or brown envelop and never found this tip to be effective. Luckily, some shop keeper told me this trick of keeping jewelry wrapped in either plastic or bubble wrap to keep its sheen and shine alive for a longer period of time.

Tip # 2: Don’t Wear Perfume after Wearing Jewelry
When we get ready to go somewhere, spritzing perfume on ourselves is usually the last thing we do and we don’t realize that it can deteriorate the condition of our jewelry.

Tip # 3: Avoid Contact with Water
You may not notice an instant impact of water on jewelry but constantly exposing your jewelry to water can make your jewelry dull and dingy.

Tip # 4: Clean Your Jewelry Regularly
Don’t forget about your favorite pieces after keeping them in a box. It’s important to clean your pieces from time to time as dust can impact their shine. Also, clean your jewelry after taking them off as your own sweat can also dull the shine.
